Beaufort Linear Master Plan

The Beaufort Linear Park project aims to create a recreational corridor along the course of the Garibaldi Creek from Beaufort Lake at the southernmost point to the area where the creek intersects with Yam Holes Creek north of the railway line in Beaufort.

The master plan for the linear park is being created to enhance:

  • Water quality and biodiversity along the Garibaldi Creek;
  • Community health and wellbeing;
  • The experience for visitors to Beaufort.

Pyrenees Shire Council is engaging with Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation, DEECA, Glenelg Hopkins CMA, adjacent landholders, members of the community and other key stakeholders to co-design the future of the Beaufort Linear Park and help shape the values, vision, and ideas for the future of the site.

A draft copy of the Master Plan was presented to the community at the Beeripmo Centre earlier in November 2023.

The draft plan is based on information gathered through a series of community engagement activities. These included events with schools, service clubs, community groups and traditional custodians, along with visits to retailers, surveys, workshops, pop-up events, site walks and face-to-face meetings.

Beaufort residents are now being invited to have their final say on the plan.

The draft Master Plan has been placed on public exhibit at Council offices, the Beaufort Community Resource Centre, on Council’s website and Council’s Engagement Hub.
