Green waste
Council has a green waste collection service within the townships of Avoca and Beaufort.
- A 240-litre green waste bin with a lime-green lid is provided to households within the serviced areas.
- The green waste bin service has improved the ability for residents of Avoca and Beaufort to remove green waste from their property.
This service has allowed for the recovery and use of green waste by the capping of old tip sites and use around existing transfer stations with weed reduction, reducing greenhouse gas liability, and reducing contamination of recyclables.
Approximately 900 cubic metres of green waste is collected annually.
What items can be placed in the green waste bin?
- Lawn Clippings
- Leaves and prunings
- Small twigs and branches
- Flowers and weeds
What items DO NOT go into in the Green Waste Bin?
- Plastic bags
- Nappies
- Recyclables
- Household rubbish
- Soil & rubble
- Large logs
- Pot plants
Please do not overfill your green bin as green waste trucks cannot lift more than a maximum of 70kg. If you overfill your bin or put too much material in, for example wet grass, it's very easy for the bin to weigh more than 70kg.
