People from all walks of life can find themselves with financial problems.
Council’s Revenue officers are here to help!
Council is more than willing offer payment arrangements that work with your unique situation, from as soon as you receive your rates notices.
Council also has a Financial Assistance Policy(PDF, 621KB) in place for those who are struggling financially. The Local Government Act 1989 allows for councils to waive or defer rates on application under Section 170A and 171A, depending on the circumstances. All information is kept confidential.

Financial counsellors are non-judgemental, qualified professionals who help with information, support and advocacy for people in financial difficulty.
A financial counsellor can:
- advise and help with problems related to debt and debt enforcement
- advocate and negotiate with banks and other lenders
- help with concessions, grant eligibility and applications as well as referral for material aid
- help with lodging complaints to external dispute resolution services
- refer to other community, health and legal services
- provide information about consumer rights.
Financial counsellors do not:
- recommend any kinds of loan products
- provide debt consolidation services
- provide financial product advice, ordeal with investments.
