Roadside Vegetation Management
Council manages more than 2000 km of roads within the Pyrenees Shire. Council’s role is to provide safe transport corridors, ensure safe property access, minimise of fire risk, protect and enhance biodiversity values, and protect cultural, heritage and amenity values.
Council is responsible for street trees that Council has planted, including Avenues of Honour.
Council undertakes tree and vegetation control on road reserves to provide safe transport corridors.
Responsibility for native vegetation impacting fences or other private assets is generally the responsibility of the owner.
Permission must be obtained from Council or other relevant authority before any works take place on a road reserve.
Native vegetation is protected by law in Victoria. Please seek advice from Council and ensure that you have the appropriate permissions or exemptions prior to removing native vegetation.
