If you live on a property that is not connected to reticulated sewerage, you should either have a standard septic tank or an onsite wastewater treatment system on your property. For information on maintaining your existing system please view our Maintenance section.
Our Environmental Health Officer is responsible for ensuring that all installations and alterations of onsite wastewater treatment systems and septic tanks are installed according to the current Environment Protection Authority (EPA) code of practice.
Any person wishing to install a new or alter any part of a septic tank or wastewater system requires a Permit from Council's Environmental Health department before any work begins.
