Road naming

New roads need road names and sometimes old roads need to be renamed. Geographic Names Victoria oversees the naming of roads and places in Victoria following the naming rules.

The naming rules are based on national standards and policies. They provide a strong basis for standardised and clear naming procedures across the state.

Current unnamed roads for road naming

Avoca: Proposal to name an unnamed road Webb Street(PDF, 121KB). This road is between Rutherford Street and Barnett Street.

Beaufort: Proposal to name an unnamed road to Kirkland Court(PDF, 162KB). This road is off Racecourse Road.

Submissions for both these road names are being accepted until 10 Janaury 2025. You can have your say by emailing pyrenees@pyrenees.vic.gov.au or by sending a letter to Pyrenees Shire Council, 5 Lawrence Street, Beaufort 3373.
