Pyrenees Shire aquatic facilities have adopted Life Saving Victoria's Watch Around Water Pool Safety Program. As part of this program the following active supervision guidelines are in place:
- Children under 5 years of age must be accompanied in the water by a parent or carer (carer = person over the age of 16). The child must always remain within arm's reach of the parent/carer.
- Children aged between 5 and 10 years of age must be clearly and constantly visible and remain directly accessible to their parent or carer at any point in time.
- For children aged 10 years and older, parents or carer must use their knowledge of the child's swimming ability to determine the level of supervision. Parents/carers are not required to be present in the facility.
Unsupervised children (of any age) will be removed from the water if the lifeguard is concerned for their safety.
Pool rules are in place at each venue to ensure everyone can enjoy their time safely. These rules are on display at each venue.
Please stay safe and respect the directions given by the lifeguards at any facility.
