Marking Reconciliation Week 2023

Reconciliation Week flag raising

Today we held a flag raising to mark Reconciliation Week.

This year's Reconciliation Week theme is Be a Voice for Generations and encourages all Australians to use their power, words and actions to create a better, more just Australia for all of us.

At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey that reminds us that while generations of Australians have fought hard for meaningful change, future gains are likely to take just as much, if not more, effort.

The Reconciliation Plan 2021 - 2024 reaffirms and commits Council to actions for advancing reconciliation.  We are proud to make a commitment to fully support reconciliation within our organisation and to influence reconciliation across the municipality.
