Whether it’s an Aussie sausage sizzle and two-up, or scones, jam and cream, Pyrenees Shire Council wants to hear from you if you’d like to host the 2025 Pyrenees Australia Day event.

Community and sports groups are being invited to submit an expression of interest to host next year’s event, with all costs covered by Council and a $500 donation made to the successful applicant.

Pyrenees Shire Council Mayor Cr Robert Vance said Australia Day events are a great way to bring the community together to celebrate our country’s diversity and culture.

“Hosting the Australia Day event is very rewarding, giving your club or group a chance to bring Pyrenees residents together for the day and showcase your own town or region,” Cr Vance said.

“Council is keen to hear from any groups who are interested – all you need is a venue and the ability to arrange a morning/afternoon tea or barbecue. All costs of food and other requirements will be covered by Council, which will also donate $500 to the successful applicant.”

Pyrenees Shire Council organises the formal part of the Australia Day celebration, including speeches and the citizenship ceremony, with the host community able to showcase their town with art, photographic/historical displays or any other activity that highlights the assets of the township and its community.
