Community facilities survey begins
Published on 15 April 2025
A survey on Beaufort community facility use has begun as part of the Old Beaufort Primary School Master Plan creation.
The survey will help understand how Beaufort’s community assets are currently used, confirm community group activities, and identify groups that might not have a suitable space yet.
It will also outline the community’s ambitions for both the Old Beaufort Primary School site and Beaufort’s broader community asset network.
The survey is being run by consultants Public Realm Lab, who are developing the former primary school’s master plan. The site is owned by the state government, but Pyrenees Shire Council is assisting with the master plan creation.
The survey asks questions such as:
“Which community asset does your group currently use?”
“What additional facilities or features would support your group’s activities.”
“What type of space does your group need?”, and
“How frequently would your group use this space?”
Pyrenees Shire Mayor Cr Tanya Kehoe said this initial survey would look at how Beaufort is currently servicing its community groups.
“We hope community groups will really take this opportunity to tell us how much they are using the local facilities or what extra spaces might be needed, such as meeting rooms, event spaces, creative spaces or outdoor areas,” Cr Kehoe said.
“The feedback will help us shape the future of Beaufort’s community spaces and the creation of the Old Beaufort Primary School Master Plan.”
A second survey will be held in the coming months focusing particularly on possible uses for the former school site.
