Community Vision review
Published on 11 April 2025
Pyrenees Shire Council is reviewing its Community Vision 2021-2031 and has also created a Draft Council Vision 2025-2029.
Residents are being asked to provide feedback on both documents.
The 10-year Community Vision describes the Pyrenees Shire community aspirations until early in the next decade.
The current Vision reads:
“Our Vision is for inclusive, happy and healthy connected communities that create sustainable and welcoming townships, natural environments and rural areas.
“We attract diversity through promoting innovation, growth and partnerships while addressing climate and community needs such as reliable and responsive infrastructure, affordable services and housing whilst protecting our natural environments.”
The draft Council Vision 2025-2029 reads:
“Our Vision is to put our Pyrenees residents first and foremost throughout the Council, building a progressive, innovative and vibrant shire where economic growth and innovation go hand-in-hand supporting tourism development, the natural environment and small-town sustainability.
“By focusing on wellbeing, community connections, and supporting all life stages; we aim to create vibrant, resilient communities where visitors and residents want to live, invest, and thrive.”
Pyrenees Shire Mayor Cr Tanya Kehoe said Council was keen to know if the Community Vision’s key priorities were still relevant, or if anything was missed during the 2021 consultation that should be added.
“We want to know if there are any aspirations for 2031 that should be included,” Cr Kehoe said.
“This Vision is for the whole community, and we want to make sure we are fully capturing what our community sees as its priorities.
“We still have six years of the Vision to run, and we think it’s time to revisit this document to ensure it is still meeting the community’s needs.
“We also want to know if the Draft Council Vision aligns with the Community Vision and reflects shared aspirations.”
