Beaufort Lake Foreshore work to start this month

Work on the Beaufort Lake Foreshore redevelopment will start early November.

This project, funded by the Commonwealth Government’s Drought Communities Program, will be completed in two stages.

The first stage of the project will include a site tidy up, the formalisation of pedestrian access to the Lake foreshore area, and the installation of underground power services to service an electric BBQ and support the hosting of events.

Vegetation management works, including the removal of dangerous trees and limbs and the installation of picnic furniture will also be undertaken during the first stage.

The second stage, which will include the installation of nature-based play equipment, will commence early in the new year and is expected to be completed by March 2021.

The $125,000 project aims to improve the foreshore as a picnic, event and family recreation spot for Beaufort locals and visitors alike.

“These improvements build on the natural asset of the Beaufort Lake,” CEO Jim Nolan said.

“Council will consider further funding opportunities for the area, which could be put towards a barbecue and shelter,” Mr Nolan said.

Access to the lake foreshore will be restricted at times throughout the upgrade process.

Site preparation works will start Thursday 5th or Friday 6th of November, this is earlier than anticipated because of contractor availability.
