Avoca streetscape upgrade promise welcomed

Pyrenees Shire Mayor Cr Tanya Kehoe has welcomed an election promise from Mallee Nationals MP Dr Anne Webster to continue its Avoca Streetscape Improvement program.

The $250,000 Coalition election promise announced this morning (Wednesday, 8 April) will allow Pyrenees Shire to continue implementing its Avoca streetscape program, which could include High Street footpath and access improvements, seating and improved pedestrian walkways.

“Avoca is the beautiful gateway to the amazing Pyrenees and this election promise would help showcase our wonderful High Street,” Cr Kehoe said.

“Not many towns have such a great space to stop and have a coffee or something to eat before heading out to explore the vineyards and the wineries, and to see it better utilized would be fantastic.”

Upgrades already implemented as part of the Avoca Streetscape Improvement program include:

  • Pedestrian outstands
  • Road surface upgrades
  • Tree plantings
  • Outdoor furniture installation
