The following statement is attributable to Pyrenees Shire CEO Jim Nolan

“Council is working hard to get the Avoca pool open following its temporary closure. This unfortunate closure is due to an unexpected leak discovered last week.

“We know how important the pool is to the community and we understand the disappointment the closure has caused, especially right at the start of the summer season when our community looks forward to enjoying the facilities.

“Assessments on the infrastructure surrounding the pool have today uncovered the potential cause of the leak. Remediation works are scheduled to begin tomorrow and by Thursday afternoon we expect to know whether further action will be required.

“We will keep everyone informed about the progress of repairs and the anticipated reopening date through our Facebook page and website.

“In the meantime, we encourage our community members to use the pools at Landsborough and Beaufort.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this closure may cause and appreciate your understanding and patience. The safety and well-being of our community are our top priorities, and we are making every effort to get the pool up and running again as soon as possible.”
