Cr Tanya Kehoe has been a Pyrenees Shire Councillor for 13 years after first being elected in 2012. As an educator, community advocate and pastoral care worker, she is passionate about representing, supporting and advocating for her community.
Cr Kehoe was elected Mayor in November 2024, and has also served as Mayor in 2013-15 and 2019-20.
Cr Kehoe’s professional experience spans teaching in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors, pastoral care and farming on her family’s cross-breed sheep property. She has a Bachelor of Arts and Teaching, a Masters in Education and Leadership, and is currently working towards a Doctorate of Philosophy.
Cr Kehoe is excited to be part of the new Council, a group of passionate people who are committed to reaching out to the community and understanding their needs. During this term, she hopes to help improve the liveability, safety, amenity and prosperity of the Pyrenees Shire for every resident, and create a welcoming, vibrant destination for visitors.
Cr Kehoe and her husband Bernard run a sheep property at Mount Emu and have eight children.
